Description

This project features the implementation of a vertical smart storage system for SIMHOPE’s parts warehouse. The system is designed for factory parts storage and inventory record management, helping the customer improve space utilization and inventory accuracy.

SIMHOPE is a Taiwan-based die casting machine brand that provides cold chamber and hot chamber die casting machines, along with peripheral equipment. As the company continues to serve global markets under its own brand, efficient parts storage and accurate inventory control have become increasingly important to its factory operations.

To address the customer’s need for better space utilization and more reliable inventory management, JY STE Technology planned a vertical smart storage system based on the site’s 5.5-meter height condition. Through automatic height detection, storage location allocation, and the WMS warehouse management system, the solution helps reduce the space waste caused by conventional fixed racks while improving the efficiency and accuracy of manual inventory control.

After implementation, SIMHOPE can make better use of the factory’s vertical space, increase parts storage capacity, and improve inventory management accuracy. The parts warehouse has been upgraded from a traditional manual management model to a more automated and intelligent smart warehousing environment.

DIE CASTING MACHINE CASE STUDY

Trusval Technology Co., Ltd. | Automated Spare Parts Warehouse
Vertical Smart Storage Implementation

Founded in 1984, Trusval Technology is one of Taiwan’s leading die casting machine manufacturers. The company provides high-quality, cost-effective cold- and hot-chamber die casting machines and peripheral equipment under its global SIMHOPE brand. To address limited storage capacity and inventory discrepancies in its spare parts warehouse, Trusval sought an automated solution that would also support its broader vision for a smarter factory. Based on the available 5.5 m site height and future operational requirements, Apex Equipment implemented an intelligent vertical storage solution combining automation, flexible storage allocation, and WMS-based inventory control.

PROJECT OVERVIEW

Project Overview

This project involved the implementation of an automated spare parts warehouse for Trusval Technology. The existing fixed shelving system could not be adjusted to match different item heights, leaving vertical space underutilized. Inbound and outbound movements were also recorded manually, increasing the risk of inventory discrepancies and management inefficiency. Apex Equipment introduced a vertical smart storage system with automatic height measurement, dynamic storage allocation, and a standard WMS, improving storage capacity, space utilization, and inventory accuracy.

1. Company Background: A Leading Taiwanese Die Casting Machine Manufacturer

Founded in 1984, Trusval Technology is one of Taiwan’s leading die casting machine manufacturers. The company specializes in cold- and hot-chamber die casting machines and related peripheral equipment, delivering high-quality solutions at competitive prices. Through its proprietary SIMHOPE brand, Trusval serves customers worldwide and provides customized services to resolve production challenges and support product development.

As global manufacturers place greater emphasis on efficiency, accuracy, and intelligent management, Trusval has extended its focus beyond production equipment to the internal management of spare parts, warehouse space, and inventory data. The implementation of an automated spare parts warehouse therefore represents not only a storage improvement, but also an important step toward smart factory operations.

2. Project Objective: From Warehouse Automation to Intelligent Management

During the initial site visit, Trusval identified two primary requirements: improving space utilization and strengthening inventory control. Further discussions showed that the company’s long-term objective was not limited to automation; it also required an intelligent, data-driven factory structure. This direction aligns with Apex Equipment’s mission to provide more than standalone automated storage equipment by delivering integrated solutions that combine automation with intelligent warehouse management.

01

Improve Space Utilization

Fixed shelving and predetermined shelf spacing prevented effective use of the available 5.5 m site height.

02

Improve Inventory Accuracy

Manual control of inbound and outbound transactions increased the risk of discrepancies between physical stock and system records.

03

Establish an Intelligent Storage Architecture

The client required a systemized and data-driven solution capable of supporting future smart factory development.

BEFORE / AFTER

Key Improvements Before and After Implementation

The warehouse was upgraded from fixed shelving and manual inventory control to automatic height measurement, dynamic storage allocation, and WMS-based management.

Before | Fixed Shelving and Manual Management

The existing fixed shelving system used predetermined storage heights that could not be adjusted to match different spare-part dimensions. Combined with manual inbound and outbound control, this resulted in wasted space and inventory discrepancies.

  • Fixed shelf heights limited storage flexibility
  • Shelf spacing could not be adjusted to suit different item sizes
  • Vertical space was underutilized, reducing effective storage capacity
  • Manual inbound and outbound records increased inventory discrepancies
  • Inventory errors created management and cost-control issues
  • The warehouse lacked a foundation for future intelligent management

After | Vertical Smart Spare Parts Warehouse

After implementation, automatic height measurement, dynamic storage allocation, and the WMS enabled the system to assign storage locations according to item height while accurately managing inbound, outbound, and inventory data.

  • Automatic height measurement determines suitable storage positions
  • Dynamic storage allocation reduces unused space on each level
  • The 5 m system makes effective use of the available vertical space
  • Overall storage capacity is significantly increased
  • The standard WMS manages inbound and outbound inventory records
  • Inventory information can be tracked accurately and efficiently

3. Challenges Before Implementation

01

Wasted Space Caused by Fixed Shelving

The factory previously used traditional fixed shelving. Because shelf heights could not be adjusted according to spare-part dimensions, the available vertical space was not used effectively, resulting in unnecessary storage loss.

02

Inventory Discrepancies Caused by Manual Management

Inbound and outbound transactions were controlled manually, making discrepancies between physical stock and recorded inventory more likely. This increased administrative workload and affected inventory visibility and cost control.

4. Solution: Vertical Smart Storage for Spare Parts Management

Based on Trusval Technology’s spare parts management requirements and the available 5.5 m site height, Apex Equipment installed a medium-duty vertical smart storage system measuring 5 m in height with a 1,000 kg load capacity. Automatic height measurement and dynamic storage allocation adjust storage positions according to item dimensions, reducing unused space. The standard WMS manages inbound, outbound, and inventory data, upgrading the warehouse from manual control to systematic management.

Automatic Height Measurement

The equipment detects item height and assigns a suitable storage position, allowing the storage layout to match actual spare-part dimensions and reducing wasted space.

Dynamic Storage Allocation

The system allocates storage positions according to item conditions, minimizes unused space on each level, and increases total storage capacity.

Vertical Space Utilization

The 5 m equipment height was selected according to the 5.5 m site condition, enabling effective use of vertical space and improving upon conventional shelving.

WMS Inventory Management

The standard WMS records and manages inbound, outbound, and inventory data, allowing operators to maintain accurate and traceable spare-part information.

5. Improvements After Implementation

Increased Storage Capacity

Automatic height measurement and dynamic storage allocation reduce unused space on each level and substantially increase the warehouse’s overall storage capacity.

Improved Space Utilization

The 5 m system makes effective use of the available 5.5 m site height and reduces idle vertical space.

Accurate Inventory Visibility

The WMS manages inbound and outbound records, reduces discrepancies, and improves the accuracy of spare-parts inventory data.

Foundation for Smart Factory Development

The integration of automated storage and WMS establishes a systemized, data-driven foundation for future factory upgrades.

6. Why Trusval Chose Apex Equipment

When evaluating an automated storage solution, Trusval considered not only equipment performance, but also communication efficiency, response time, and long-term after-sales support.
