Description
This project is an implementation case of an automated storage system for the line-side warehouse of a thin-film sputtering target R&D and manufacturing company in southern Taiwan. The equipment specifications are a large-scale 6-meter Vertical Lift Module (VLM) with a single-load capacity of 1,000 kg. It is mainly used for the centralized storage, transfer, and digitalized management of large and heavy materials such as plates and bars.
Previously, the customer mainly stored materials on pallets. Due to the large size and heavy weight of the materials, they could not be stacked upward effectively and were also unsuitable for manual handling. This led to insufficient floor space, disorganized on-site workflow, time-consuming material retrieval, lack of transparency in material management, and a higher risk of collisions during handling. Based on the customer’s line-side warehouse requirements, Apex Equipment Co., Ltd. planned and implemented a large 6-meter Vertical Lift Module (VLM), combined with a labor-saving mechanism and an extension mechanism, to help improve the storage and transfer limitations associated with heavy materials.
After implementation, materials can be stored in an enclosed automated storage system and centrally stored vertically by means of high-load trays. Material picking is completed through a Goods-to-Person workflow. This not only improves space utilization, material retrieval efficiency, and material safety, but also makes line-side warehouse management more digitalized, organized, and efficient.
