Description

This project features the implementation of an automated storage system for the mold warehouse of a screw manufacturer in Southern Taiwan. The system is a medium-sized 7-meter model with a single-load capacity of 500 kg, designed for the storage, classification, and inbound/outbound management of production molds.

The customer wanted to address several challenges in its existing mold warehouse, including excessive floor space usage caused by open racking, time-consuming mold searches, and the difficulty of maintaining accurate inventory records through manual management. Based on the site’s 7.5-meter height condition, JY STE Technology proposed a vertical automated storage system equipped with automatic height detection, storage location allocation, and a WMS warehouse management system.

After implementation, molds can be quickly retrieved through system-assigned storage locations, reducing manual search time and improving operational efficiency through a goods-to-person workflow. Screw manufacturers often require a large number of production moulds because of the wide variety of product specifications. When moulds are stored on traditional fixed racks or open shelving, numerous item types, dispersed locations, and manual management can lead to lengthy search times, inventory discrepancies, and inefficient use of factory space.

During the initial visit, the client clearly stated that the objective was to introduce automated storage for mould management and reduce the floor space occupied by the existing open shelving. Based on the 7.5 m site height, mould weight, and storage requirements, APEX confirmed a medium-sized 7 m, 500 kg automated storage system.
