Description

This project features the implementation of an automated storage system for the material warehouse of a mold manufacturer in Central Taiwan. The system is a 3-meter model with a single-load capacity of 1,000 kg, designed for the centralized storage, inbound/outbound management, and on-site traffic flow optimization of mold plate materials.

Before the upgrade, the customer could only stack mold plate materials on floor pallets because the plates varied in size and were relatively heavy. This not only affected production traffic flow, but also made material searches time-consuming and prevented warehouse management from being properly systemized.

Based on the site’s 3.4-meter height condition, high-load requirements, and mold plate storage needs, JY STE Technology introduced a suitable vertical automated storage system for the customer.

After implementation, mold plate materials can be centrally managed through the system, effectively shortening inbound, outbound, and material search time. The solution also improves factory traffic flow and workplace organization while enhancing the company’s warehouse management image. As a result, material warehouse management becomes safer, more accurate, and more efficient.

HIGH-LOAD MATERIAL STORAGE CASE STUDY

Mould Manufacturing Company in Central Taiwan | Material Storage
Large 3-Meter, 1,000 kg Automated Storage Case Study

This case study covers the introduction of an automated storage system for the material storage area of a mould manufacturer in Central Taiwan. After learning about APEX products through online research and industry peers, the client began evaluating vertical storage because the existing mould storage method disrupted production flow, made materials difficult to access, and could not adequately support heavy loads. Based on the available 3.4-meter site height and high-load requirements, APEX planned a large 3-meter, 1,000 kg automated storage system to improve floor-pallet stacking, lengthy material searches, obstructed production flow, and non-systematic material management.

PROJECT OVERVIEW

Project Overview

During the initial phone inquiry, the contact explained that the company’s management had learned about APEX products through online research and industry peers. Because the existing mould storage method affected production flow and made materials difficult to access, the company wanted to evaluate the feasibility of vertical storage. The on-site survey confirmed that materials of varying sizes and heavy weights could only be stacked on floor pallets. Locating the required materials consumed considerable time and wasted working hours. APEX therefore planned a large 3-meter, 1,000 kg automated storage system according to the site conditions and high-load requirements.

1. Project Background: Existing Storage Disrupted Production Flow and Material Handling

Because the mould materials varied in size and were relatively heavy, the manufacturer could only stack them temporarily on floor pallets. This storage method occupied aisles and operating space, directly affecting production flow.

When specific mould materials or parts were required, operators had to spend considerable time searching and verifying them. This increased labor hours and prevented material management from being systematized. Without clearly assigned storage locations and management procedures, inbound and outbound efficiency and workplace organization were both affected.

After reviewing the client’s site conditions, APEX immediately proposed a large 3-meter, 1,000 kg vertical automated storage solution based on the available 3.4-meter height, high-load requirements, and material characteristics. This converted floor-stacking management into safer, clearer, and more efficient vertical storage.

2. Client Requirements and Project Conditions

01

Mould Material Storage and Management

Improve floor stacking, reduce search time, and establish a systematic material management process.

02

High-Load Requirement

The mould materials and related parts were heavy, requiring a 1,000 kg high-load capacity.

03

3.4 m Available Site Height

A large 3-meter vertical automated storage system was planned to fit the available 3.4-meter site height.

BEFORE / AFTER

Key Differences Before and After Implementation

The operation was upgraded from floor-pallet stacking, lengthy searches, and obstructed production flow to centralized high-load automated storage and a cleaner workplace layout.

Before | Floor-Pallet Stacking

Before implementation, materials of varying sizes and heavy weights could only be stacked on floor pallets. Each retrieval required time-consuming searching and verification, wasting working hours and disrupting production flow.

  • Mould materials and parts varied in size, making storage difficult to standardize
  • Heavy materials could only be stacked on floor pallets
  • Stacked materials frequently obstructed production flow
  • Locating parts consumed considerable time and labor
  • Material management could not be systematized
  • Workplace organization and the company’s management image were affected

After | Large 3 m, 1,000 kg High-Load Automated Storage

After implementing the large 3-meter, 1,000 kg automated storage system, mould materials could be centrally stored and managed within the equipment. This reduced floor-pallet stacking, created a cleaner production flow, shortened inbound and outbound time, and improved the overall image of the material storage area.

  • Mould materials and heavy parts can be centrally stored and managed
  • The 1,000 kg capacity supports heavy mould material requirements
  • Reduced production-flow disruption caused by floor-pallet stacking
  • Reduced inbound, outbound, and material-search time
  • Established a stronger foundation for systematic material management
  • Created a cleaner and more organized production flow
  • Enhanced the company’s storage-management image

3. Issues Before Implementation

01

Production Flow Was Easily Disrupted

Mould materials and parts stacked on floor pallets occupied aisles and operating space, disrupting production flow.

02

Locating Parts Consumed Significant Time

Because materials varied in size and were stacked together, operators spent considerable time locating the required mould materials and parts.

03

Material management could not be systematized

Floor-pallet stacking lacked a clear management structure, making storage, retrieval, and inbound and outbound handling difficult.

04

Limited Storage Options for Heavy Mould Materials

Without high-load storage equipment, heavy mould materials could only be temporarily stored using low-efficiency methods.

4. Solution: Large 3 m, 1,000 kg High-Load Vertical Automated Storage

APEX planned a large 3-meter, 1,000 kg vertical automated storage system according to the manufacturer’s available 3.4-meter site height and high-load requirements. After implementation, mould materials and related parts could be centrally managed within the equipment instead of being stacked on floor pallets. Automated storage and handling reduced search and inbound and outbound time while creating a cleaner production flow.

1,000 kg High-Load Capacity

The 1,000 kg load specification supports heavy mould materials and improves storage safety.

Large 3 m Equipment Height
