Description

This project features the implementation of a vertical smart storage system for the material warehouse of CHEN YIEH TRADING CO., LTD. The system is a medium-sized 7-meter model with a single-load capacity of 300 kg, designed for the storage and management of motorcycle repair parts, engine tuning components, and related materials.

As the customer planned a new office building, there was a need to improve material management efficiency while upgrading the overall brand image. To support these goals, JY STE Technology proposed a cross-floor vertical storage configuration connecting the B1 and 1F work areas. By making full use of the site’s 8-meter height, the solution helps address common issues in conventional rack storage, including inconvenient loading and unloading, time-consuming material searches, and the lack of systematic material management.

After implementation, CHEN YIEH TRADING CO., LTD. can significantly shorten material storage and retrieval time while improving the efficiency of material information management. The upgraded warehouse environment also presents a more modern and professional image, supporting the company’s future own-brand development and long-term business planning.

SMART STORAGE CASE STUDY

Chen Yieh Trading | Medium-sized 7-meter 300 kg Material Storage
From Vision to Reality: Forward-Looking Smart Storage Planning

Since its establishment in May 2012, Chen Yieh Trading has focused on selling motorcycle repair parts and engine modification components to Southeast Asia. To support company growth, its own-brand strategy, and the launch of a new office building, Chen Yieh planned its vertical smart storage system three years in advance. The project introduced a medium-sized 7-meter, 300 kg unit with a cross-floor design connecting B1 and 1F, creating an efficient, professional, and scalable material management system.

PROJECT OVERVIEW

Project Overview

This project introduced a medium-sized 7-meter, 300 kg vertical smart storage system for material storage in Chen Yieh Trading’s new office building. Because operations span B1 and 1F, APEX designed a cross-floor storage solution based on site conditions. The system improves the inconvenience of traditional shelving, reduces material search time, centralizes material information, addresses space limitations, and strengthens the company’s professional image during client visits and audits.

PROJECT STORY

From Corporate Vision to Smart Storage Implementation

Chen Yieh did not wait for storage problems to occur. It planned ahead for future management needs during the design stage of its new office building.

2012

Company Establishment and Market Development

Chen Yieh Trading was established and began focusing on motorcycle repair parts and engine modification components for Southeast Asia, gradually building a global network of clients and manufacturers.

3 years in advance

Advance Planning for Smart Storage

Chairman Mr. Cai had seen vertical smart storage at an overseas client’s facility and determined that it would suit Chen Yieh’s future material management needs. The company therefore began planning with APEX before construction started.

2026

New Office and Smart Storage Launch

In April 2026, the new office building was officially launched with a medium-sized 7-meter smart storage system, establishing the foundation for systematic material management and future own-brand development.

BEFORE / AFTER

Key Differences Before and After Implementation

The operation was upgraded from traditional shelving and manual cross-floor handling to a cross-floor, systematic, and traceable smart material storage solution.

Before | Traditional Material Storage

Traditional shelving and manual management created operational and management bottlenecks when handling numerous material types, cross-floor workflows, and the height conditions of the new facility.

  • Inconvenient material loading and unloading
  • Traditional shelving requires substantial manual handling
  • Numerous part types make material searches time-consuming
  • Material information is fragmented and cannot be systematically tracked
  • Frequent cross-floor operations between B1 and 1F
  • The 8-meter site height requires more effective utilization
  • Traditional storage does not effectively present a modern management image

After | Medium-sized 7-meter Smart Storage

After introducing vertical smart storage, material management became faster, less labor-intensive, systematic, and flexible for future integration.

  • The medium-sized 7-meter unit fully utilizes vertical space
  • The 300 kg load capacity supports material storage requirements
  • The cross-floor design connects B1 and 1F
  • Inbound and outbound material status is recorded systematically
  • Inbound and outbound time is reduced, improving daily efficiency
  • Manual handling risks and material losses are reduced
  • The system enhances the company image during client audits and visits

1. Company Background and Development: The Starting Point for Smart Storage

Chen Yieh Trading was established in May 2012 and primarily sells motorcycle repair parts and engine modification components to Southeast Asia. Over 14 years of dedicated team efforts, the company has accumulated clients and manufacturers worldwide. It upholds the business philosophy of “pre-sales service, post-sales obligation,” maintaining stable and sound business development.

Despite the challenges faced by Taiwan’s traditional industries, Chen Yieh chose to move against the headwinds. It is actively planning to establish its own brand, with the goal of shifting from the current 90% OEM/ODM to 50% own brand and 50% OEM/ODM within the next 10 years.

Therefore, vertical smart storage was incorporated into the new office building plan from the outset. The objective was not only to address storage challenges, but also to prepare for brand development, client audits, sustainable operations, and long-term growth.

2. The Decision Three Years in Advance: Early Smart Storage Planning

During the initial visit, Chairman Mr. Cai mentioned seeing vertical smart storage at an overseas client’s facility and believing it would be highly suitable for Chen Yieh’s needs. At that time, the new office building was scheduled for completion in three years. Considering inflation and future construction costs, Chen Yieh decided to introduce APEX’s vertical smart storage before construction even began.

01

Secure Future Requirements Early

Smart storage was planned before the new building was completed, preventing future restrictions in space allocation and workflow design.

02

Reduce Long-Term Cost Risks

Early planning considered equipment costs and reduced uncertainty caused by inflation and future implementation cost increases.

03

Support Brand Development

Smart storage improves internal efficiency and presents a stronger professional image and management capability during client audits and visits.

3. Challenges Before Implementation: Smart Storage Demand Analysis

01

Inconvenient Material Handling

Traditional shelving makes loading and unloading inconvenient, requires substantial manual effort, and increases operational burden, material loss, and safety risks.

02

Time-Consuming Material Searches

The large variety of motorcycle parts makes locating materials time-consuming. Without systematic management, daily inbound, outbound, and shipping operations can be delayed.

03

Material Management Cannot Be Systematized

Material information is dispersed among personnel or paper records, making it difficult to establish complete tracking and standardized management procedures.

04

Cross-Floor and Site Constraints

The storage operation spans B1 and 1F, while the site height is approximately 8 meters. A customized cross-floor vertical smart storage solution was therefore required.

4. Why Chen Yieh Chose APEX Smart Storage

01

Rapid Communication and Responsiveness

As the original manufacturer, APEX can communicate requirements directly and help clients quickly obtain the information and technical responses they need.

02

After-Sales Service Considerations

All commercially available components used in the equipment are standard parts. Clients do not need to worry about being unable to obtain special-specification parts, and APEX can assist in resolving issues within the shortest possible time.

03

Reliability

APEX has a high market share in Taiwan and has received positive evaluations, providing confidence throughout equipment planning, installation, and long-term operation.

04

Future Upgrade Flexibility

Because APEX develops both hardware and software in-house, the system can support future production line automation upgrades and integration with the client’s existing systems.

5. Implemented Solution and Project Specifications

This project uses a medium-sized vertical smart storage system with a height of 7 meters and a maximum load capacity of 300 kg per level. Based on the conditions of Chen Yieh’s new office building, APEX designed a cross-floor configuration connecting operations on B1 and 1F.
